Welcome to Patti Rutland Jazz!

Vincent Johnson

Vince has worn many hats in the past three decades with Patti Rutland Jazz. As a student, professional dancer, choreographer, outreach director and producer, Vince has always given 100% of his love and talent. After touring the world for a decade as a choreographer and dancer, it was always Vince's dream to return to community what dance had given to him. Vince, along with his mom Patti Rutland Simpson began the Patti Rutland Jazz Outreach program in 2007 and awarded scholarships to 30 underserved students. The program was based at The Cultural Arts Center in Dothan. While director of the program, Vince saw the students grow from 30 to almost 10,000. Eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and several county schools all participated weekly in the outreach program and were taught by principal PRJ dancers. In 2014, PRJ and the Dothan City School students broke the Guiness World Record for largest hip- hop dance with over 2000 students participating in "Peanut Butter Jelly Time."
As a performer, Vince has toured Europe, The United Kingdom, Japan, South Africa, and the entire United States with artists Usher, Brandy, Xscape, Keith Sweat, Monica, Davine Stevens and Salt-N-Peppa. Vince has appeared in music videos with TLC, Outkast, and Xscape. Television credits include NBC's Inside Stuff with Usher, BET's Video Soul and Live at the Apollo. Vince still works as a choreographer for R&B artists in Atlanta and has choreographed for Ciara, TLC, and 112. Vince premiered two critically acclaimed works, Benny and the Jets and One In A Million, with Patti Rutland Jazz at The Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC.
Vince is so excited to join with his mom once again and begin this journey with the incredible dancers in Brundidge. The sky is the limit!
